New Provider for Home-Delivered Meals

Seniors in Sturgis, Hot Springs, Edgemont, and Martin who currently receive home-delivered meals from MOWWSD will now be served by Inter-lakes Community Action Partnership, a trusted senior nutrition provider with experience in senior meal home-delivery in South Dakota. MOWWSD will no longer provide home-delivery but continue to provide congregate and Grab & Go senior meals in all these communities, except Lemmon.

Possible Interruption in Meals

Meal interruptions are very likely. As ICAP adjusts to an unfamiliar region, their home delivery meals are likely to be delayed for a week or more. ICAP plans on their first bulk delivery in the week of October 16th, though distribution plans are unclear. Meals on Wheels will be distributing surplus meals to help cover the gap in coverage in transitioning communities. After October 1st, these meals are not contracted and will be funded 100% by the generosity of the community. If you would like to help us provide meals during this stage, please visit our donate page.

No Changes in Services

If you are part of the non-transitioning communities, do not expect any delays or changes in your meals. Our coverage and services are dependent upon State legislative decisions. If you would like to advocate in support of daily home delivered meals, or the mission of Meals on Wheels, please visit our advocacy form.
